During this time of the Coronavirus pandemic throughout 2020, I’ve used every spare moment to advance on as many writing fronts as possible. As my retirement from the Air Force looms, I’ve developed stories, written scripts and outlines, evaluated and secured comic book artists, and slowly built a number of comic book pitches.
And over the last several months, I’ve also written a children’s book titled The Sevens. I wrote this first and foremost to be a read-aloud experience for my twin boys as we do our evening stories. But as the book progressed, I realized I might have something here. So I poured my heart and soul into it, trying to make this book the absolute best it could be. And after getting it carefully edited, I’m ready to attempt to find a home for it.
I’ve just begun the process of submitting it (first to agents), and I hope it lands. Regardless, seeing my boys’ excitement, hearing their laughter, and fielding their questions about when will the next chapter be ready – that was the real reward. I hope you get to share it with your kids as well. Some chapters of The Sevens are posted on this site now for you to enjoy.
As for me, I’ll keep writing. There’s a lot more stories to tell in 2020 and beyond.
